Utah Cattle Drive

We signed on as “cowhands” in this beautiful and rustic setting thinking how fun it would be to do some good old fashioned ranch work. Our cattle drive took place on the Griffin Plateau in the heart of the Escalante Mountains in Utah. Over 5 days we drove 300 head of cattle from their summer pastures down to their seasonal grazing grounds. As cowboys and cowgirls we enjoyed hearty meals served out in the mountains, and experienced spectacular vistas and friendly people. We also discovered that moving cattle is much harder than we originally thought. We walked away a little saddle sore and with a greater appreciation of cowboys. We had a great time!
