Leaving Bardstown and the bourbon distilleries behind we then spent some time in Berea, Kentucky. Berea is a college town where students make and sell crafts to help pay for their college education. It is known as an artisan community. We proceeded to Booneville, home of the Daniel Boone family, where we met up again with our friend Sam. As luck would have it our paths crossed and we rode through the Appalachian mountains together for the next four days. We've been blessed (no pun intended) to stay in a Presbyterian, Baptist and Methodist church, another Warmer Showers host, and a lovely Bed & Breakfast home. The accommodations ranged from shabby to chic. We are finding that Virginia is another lush, green state. Many of the country roads are shaded with a canopy of trees and dense vegetation. We can't help but look forward to the final 450 miles of our adventure. Until next time.....
